A Missouri teenager is in critical condition after another girl forcefully pushed her head onto the ground during a school fight, and she has now been recognized as the victim of the incident.

According to the New York Pist, a 15-year-old named Kaylee has been identified as the victim, according to one of two GoFundMe fundraisers set up to help her and family members.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, another 15-year-old girl, whose identity was not revealed due to her age, was arrested on assault charges a day after the filmed fight near Hazelwood East High School.

Footage of Friday’s altercation allegedly showed a girl slamming another girl’s head into asphalt concrete in the middle of the street. By Saturday, St. Louis County police confirmed the video as real and related to the fight near the school.

“Responding officers located a juvenile female suffering a severe head injury. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition,” police said.

CrimeOnline has reviewed the video but has chosen not to include it in this article because it shows minors.

Meanwhile, the extent of Kaylee’s injuries will not be known until she wakes up, according to what family friend, Sarah Hall, said.

“We will not know the extent of the brain damage that has occurred until she wakes up, but the path to recovery will be extremely hard on the family, not only mentally but financially,” Hall said on GFM.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that although Kaylee’s family declined an interview, they confirmed the authenticity of two GFM fundraisers set up for her.

We know she has a very long road ahead of her but we remain hopeful,” a note from her parents read one of the descriptions. “We are so overwhelmed by all the support and love.”

It’s unclear what led to the altercation, but a student who knows Kaylee and the other student said it was a “petty fight.”

“I know Kaylee was a good person. I know the other girl was too.”

It is unclear whether the teen girl arrested on Saturday will be charged as an adult. A St. Louis County juvenile court judge will determine that.

Juvenile records in the state are sealed until the judge decides during the hearing if the minor will be charged as an adult. Should she be charged as an adult, she could face first-degree assault charges.
