A bar in Tennessee that asked a man to leave last week reportedly stopped him from waiting outside for his friends before he went missing.
A person who knows the family told the Kansas City Star that a bouncer at Luke Bryan’s bar in Nashville refused to let Riley Strain, 22, wait outside while his friends settled their bills. Strain, who was apparently escorted out of the bar through a side exit, had disappeared by the time his friends left.
“The last his friends last saw him after he left Luke Bryan’s,” Metro Nashville Police Cold Case Sgt. Bob Nielsen explained to WSMV. “I think one of them tried to contact him, but I can’t recall if it was by phone or text. I believe he mentioned…it seemed like he was outside. He could hear a lot of noise outside but couldn’t get more details because he wasn’t able to actually talk to him.”
Reports suggested that Strain was asked to leave because staff thought he had consumed too much alcohol. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission is looking into whether the bar served him too much on the night of his disappearance on March 8.
This week, Nashville police made public surveillance footage that apparently shows Strain walking across the street shortly before his disappearance. Furthermore, a local smoke shop gave WZTV potential footage of Strain running and falling after leaving Luke Bryan’s bar.

A subsequent 911 call indicates that the first call to 911 was made on Saturday afternoon, 16 hours after Strain was last spotted. At some point, Strain’s friends attempted to report him missing at a police station and to Davidson County police.
Strain, a University of Missouri student, was in Nashville for a fraternity conference when he went missing. His family said they last located his phone less than a mile from the bar he was asked to leave. Strain’s location was not available on Snapchat, and his phone eventually went to voicemail.
Strain was described as 6 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a brown button-up shirt with a black chest pocket, blue jeans, brown boots, and a black Apple watch.
Authorities are reportedly trying to access information from Strain’s phone and Apple Watch, both of which are currently missing.
