An Oklahoma A woman saw her boyfriend texting another woman and became very angry, allegedly stabbing stabbing him twice with a kitchen knife. Although the man was indeed texting another woman, it was not a potential lover, but his aunt, as per the police.
Police in Duncan, about 80 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, the police responded to an argument between a man and a woman at the Creekside Apartments around 3 a.m. on Sunday following reports from neighbors. A probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime indicated that upon arrival, the officers heard yelling and a commotion outside the apartment building. The neighbors guided the officers to the specific apartment where the disturbance occurred, and upon approaching the door, the officers heard sounds of an altercation.
Upon noticing blood on the door and passage, one of the officers received no response when knocking. Subsequently, the officer used a sledgehammer to breach the door. A woman, later identified as 19-year-old Natalia Chaires, emerged from the bedroom and was detained by the officers. Inside, blood was found on the floor, and a male victim was discovered wrapped in a bloodied red and white blanket in a bedroom.
According to the police, the man had sustained two stab wounds – one on his upper left arm and another beneath his left armpit. The man was taken to the hospital by paramedics. A search of the residence revealed a bloodied kitchen knife in the sink.
During an interview with detectives at the hospital, the man disclosed that Chaires stabbed him after he texted his aunt. Chaires, in her statement, expressed her distress upon seeing him texting another woman, apparently unaware that it was his aunt, as stated in the affidavit. She allegedly admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana and acknowledged being 'a little crazy.' Chaires also confessed to attempting to clean the knife she used to stab her boyfriend.
Chaires was arrested for assault and battery likely to cause death, as well as attempted destruction of evidence, and was taken to the Stephens County Jail. Her bond was set at $150,000.
