A 32-year-old woman from Wisconsin was officially charged this week for the death of her boyfriend's 3-year-old son almost a year ago.

Samantha Wishman reportedly dialed 911 and said she discovered the toddler was not breathing the morning after he fell down the stairs. WLUK made the report. The boy was brought to a hospital and passed away due to severe injuries, such as bruising on his head and other body parts, a swollen abdomen, multiple broken ribs, a lung tear, and other injuries.

During the investigation, detectives found text messages sent by Wishman to the boy's father, including one where she said, 'I'm ready to hurt these m*********** kids nobody f***** understands I can't breathe so this is so much harder n now I'm having more problems breathing.'

According to the criminal complaint, another child who resided in the house revealed to detectives that Wishman used a belt or a brush on the six children, spanked them with a wooden spoon, and slapped them.

Roughly two weeks after the boy's passing on June 15, 2023, investigators informed Wishman during an interview that the child's injuries did not match those from falling down the stairs. She responded, 'Doesn't make sense.'

Dr. Kristen Iniguez, Director of the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center, stated in a report on January 31 that was cited in the complaint, 'In summary, the finding of multiplanar patterned bruising; bruising in anatomically protected locations; and severe internal injuries would not be expected after a stairway fall. In my opinion, (the victim) has likely been a victim of non-accidental trauma which led to his death.'

Police did not disclose why they waited until the end of March this year to accuse Wishman of reckless homicide and child neglect resulting in death.
