Authorities in Brevard County deputies said that they found out that a husband was lying when he claimed he last saw his wife alive getting out of their vehicle on a highway. FloridaInstead, Sheriff Wayne Ivey and authorities believe that Brian Estep killed his wife Amber Renee Estep, 39, and got rid of her body. called Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the defendant’s alibi was “fabricated.”
As Law&Crime previously reported reported, Amber Estep went missing and her mother contacted authorities when she missed work shifts on Jan. 19.
Investigators said they interviewed the victim’s husband, Brian Estep. He allegedly told detectives he last saw his wife in the afternoon of Jan. 16. He said they argued after a medical appointment in Merritt Island, and he dropped her off on the side of Interstate 95, just north of State Road 50 “after she wanted to get out of the vehicle.”
Brian Estep claimed that he accused his wife of having affairs with multiple men, according to Ivey in the arrest announcement on Thursday. Allegedly, Amber demanded he let her out of the vehicle even though they were traveling northbound on I-95.
Defendant Estep allegedly said he let her out at mile marker 215, and that she took her phone and purse. He claimed that he didn't contact her for several days because he wanted to give her space, Ivey said.
However, his truck was found engulfed in flames in Port St. John several hours after they talked to him, authorities said.
Amber Estep was found dead on the afternoon of Jan. 20 near Pit Bull Lane, authorities said.
Investigators found evidence that contradicted the defendant’s story of leaving his wife on the side of the road, according to Ivey.
Authorities claim that Brian Estep drove his wife’s body around north Brevard and south Volusia Counties before getting rid of the body. He was arrested in West Virginia and is awaiting extradition to Florida for first-degree murder with a firearm and tampering with evidence relating to a capital felony.
