Deputies in South Carolina are working to figure out who the woman is, after she was discovered on the bank of a river in Jasper County, South Carolina.

The Island Packet reported that the woman, identified by police as “white,” was found around 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Corner Lake boat landing.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby mentioned that the woman was taken to the hospital. She is responsive, but it’s not clear why she can't give her name or details.

Crosby did not provide an estimated time for how long the victim had been at the boat landing before being found. He also refused to provide more information, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Island Packet reports that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the investigation, with support from the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.

The situation is still unfolding. Keep checking for updates.
