Two teenagers from Tennessee were apparently taken into custody on Wednesday, a day following their alleged shooting at a law enforcement officer.

WMC stated that a Holly Springs police officer attempted to stop a vehicle driving recklessly without headlights. A short pursuit occurred before a suspect in the car fired two shots and fled, as per the police.

Holly Springs police informed other authorities about the individuals, last seen in Memphis. A sheriff’s deputy from Marshall County eventually located the suspects’ vehicle, but they had escaped into the woods, per WMC.

The media outlet mentioned that the duo was captured on doorbell surveillance footage shortly after the shooting. Authorities released their pictures to the public, causing the suspects’ mother to turn them in a day later.

“I don’t play no games with them. If you want to do the crime you gotta do the time— Plain and simple,” the teens’ mother told WMC.

The teenagers, who have not been publicly identified, face charges of aggravated assault on a police officer. WMC reported that a person of interest was interrogated but not charged.
