A woman from Missouri got arrested for repeatedly mistreating her baby boy.
St. Louis police mentioned the date April 15. On April 15, Emma Rigdon, 20, hit her son's leg and covered his mouth and nose with her hand. Rigdon allegedly filmed the incident and shared it with a friend, according to KTVI.
Shortly after, Rigdon reportedly filmed herself placing her hand and a blanket over the baby's face, causing him to cry and struggle with the blanket. She also sent this video to the friend, as reported by KMOV. In a text message, Rigdon allegedly expressed feeling happy and having an adrenaline rush when she harms her son, adding that she stops just before he dies. She also mentioned wanting to kill him but not wanting to go to jail. She stated that it's unfortunate and that her son will have to pay for his existence. The River Front Times mentioned that Rigdon's son is younger than six months old.
There's a restraining order against the baby's father, so the child is likely to be placed in state custody.
Rigdon's lawyer stated in court that her borderline personality disorder is worsening due to postpartum depression. Rigdon, who was denied bail, is being charged with child abuse or neglect. She has hearings scheduled for next week and May 21.[Feature Photo: Emma Rigdon/City Justice Center]
