A mother from West Virginia was taken into custody after her 14-year-old daughter was discovered deceased on Wednesday morning “in an emaciated, skeletal state.”

Julie Anne Stone Miller, 49, is accused of child neglect resulting in death, according to Boone County Sheriff Chad Barker.

Barker stated that someone from the household, where the girl resided with her mother and two grandmothers, dialed 911, and deputies located the girl in a restroom.

As per legal papers, one of the grandmothers informed deputies that the girl had not been to school since late 2019 or early 2020 and rarely left the house. WCHS made the report.

The accusation against Miller mentioned that the girl had an eating disorder, but Barker stated during the press conference that investigators had not determined a diagnosis. The grandmother mentioned that the girl had been unable to function for several days and had not eaten in months.

The document states, “Her “appearance was shocking with an obvious emaciated, skeletal state.”

Barker mentioned that investigators are still examining the case and that Miller was charged because she was the girl’s “primary care provider.”

An examination was performed on Thursday, but the results have not been released.

Miller made an appearance in court and was granted a $250,000 bond
