A 34-year-old mother from Florida who was accused of taking her daughter without permission is now in custody again in Broward County.

Arys Martinez and her husband, Jacob Howard, had their rights as parents to baby Amelia, who was 8 months old at the time, taken away in February. A week later, Howard removed the child from a daycare center and gave her to Martinez. as per WPLG.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert the day after the kidnapping and saved the baby from Martinez’s home in Pembroke Pines. Martinez was charged with kidnapping and interfering with custody, while Howard was charged with interfering with custody. Both were arrested.

Martinez was also accused of several drug charges and child neglect without causing harm. She paid a $75,000 bond on March 22 and then disappeared. An arrest warrant was issued for her on April 3, charging her with tampering with a GPS monitor.

Broward County deputies arrested her on Saturday for violating a probation warrant related to her disappearance. She also faced two new drug charges.

Baby Amelia, who was with Martinez’s mother at the time of her parents' actions, was returned to the previous foster family in February, WSVN reported. Broward County Circuit Judge Hope Tieman Bristol also revoked Howard’s limited visitation rights.

The judge stated, “It’s evident that the father is disobeying a court order. His visits are not allowed. He is no longer the legal father since the court terminated his parental rights. Regarding the urgent request to change the child’s placement, based on the information in this request, this court has serious concerns about the grandmother’s ability to protect the child, so I will approve the department’s request to change the placement.”

When Martinez was arrested in February, she informed detectives that she had intended to fly to Spain with baby Amelia.
