A South Carolina A woman from South Carolina is deceased, and her boyfriend is accused of shooting her before setting a car on fire with her body inside.

Jarrett Haskell Davis, 28, faces charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, illegal possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony, third-degree arson, and desecration of human remains. He is accused of killing his girlfriend, 25-year-old Megan Bodiford, last seen on April 25 in Denmark, South Carolina, approximately 60 miles south of Columbia.

Before she vanished, she sent a troubling text to a friend.

'If you don’t hear from me in 30 minutes, he killed me,' the message stated, as reported by FITSNews. 'He has a gun.'

The Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office discovered a burned-out car with human remains, which were later identified as Bodiford on April 30, about two miles from her home. The Sheriff’s Office requested the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate. Detectives arrested Davis on Friday, according to warrants.

Columbia NBC affiliate WIS obtained a copy of a search warrant, which stated that investigators gathered an iPhone, security cameras, and a baby monitor as evidence when they searched Davis and Bodiford’s home on Saturday.

Bodiford’s family expressed dissatisfaction with law enforcement, as Davis had a warrant for domestic violence.

'If he had been detained as he should have been the first time, maybe he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go this far with her,' her cousin Stephanie Nickens expressed in an interview with the outlet.

Bodiford was a mother to three daughters, ages 7, 4, and 4 months, as indicated on a GoFundMe page.

'I want everyone to remember what a beautiful person she was, and what a wonderful mother she was,' Givens told WIS. 'She enjoyed being around people. If you check her social media, you'll see many friends coming together and sharing memories they have with her.'

Davis is being held at the Bamberg County Jail without bond.
