Two Ohio women are facing charges after they reportedly found their elderly roommate dead and drove his body to a bank in order to take out his money.
WJW reported that Karen Casbohm and Loreen Feralo, 63 and 55, eventually dropped off Douglas Layman, 80, at a hospital — but not before withdrawing $900 from his bank account. Casbohm and Feralo reportedly resided with Layman in his Ashtabula County home and had permission from the bank to withdraw money from his account as long as he was with them.
The two women allegedly placed Layman’s body in the front seat. Later, they left his body at a hospital without providing any information, according to WJW.
WOIO reported that hours later, either Casbohm or Feralo called the hospital and provided Layman’s information, leading the police to question them.
It is uncertain how Layman died, but the two women are charged with gross abuse of a corpse and theft from a person in a protected class. WKYC reported that Casbohm’s bond was set at $5,000. Feralo is due in court on March 14.
Officials stated the pair may face more charges.
