The trial of James Crumbley — the father of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crubley — continued with a highly emotional second day of proceedings on Friday, following the testimony convicted murderer’s father getting his phone privileges suspended for allegedly making threatening statements. As the trial came to an end, prosecutors showed a video of the terrible mass shooting, which appeared to make James Crumbley cry.
James Crumbley is facing four charges of involuntary manslaughter related to his son’s deadly rampage, which occurred on Nov. 30, 2021. Four Oxford students were killed in the shooting: Tate Myre, 16, Hana St. Juliana, 14, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, and Justin Shilling, 17, when 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley opened fire at classmates and teachers inside the school.
Prosecutors claim that James Crumbley and his wife, Jennifer Crumbley, were aware of their son’s issues and didn't take action to prevent the shooting. On the day of the shooting, they were called to the school after teachers found disturbing and violent drawings in their son's math workbook. After meeting with school officials and their son, Ethan Crumbley stayed at the school while his parents left.
Jennifer Crumbley was charged with the same offenses in February and is set to be sentenced on April 9. convicted
During testimony from Oxford High School assistant principal Kristy Gibson-Marshall, footage of the shooting was shown. Gibson-Marshall described seeing the shooter in the hallway and making eye contact with him before he looked away. She then saw one of his victims on the ground and attempted to resuscitate them.
