Colorado police stated that a man they detained last month for indecent exposure is now alleged to have ejaculated onto food while working at a grocery store.
Stephen Masalta, 32, was taken into custody in February. While being investigated for a series of sex offenses outside Fort Collins and Loveland businesses that began in July 2023, Masalta focused on coffee shops. He was seen masturbating outside the businesses and peering at female employees, including at least one minor, through a window, as reported by the Coloradoan.
Authorities revealed that digital evidence at Masalta’s residence showed he also ejaculated onto food items during his employment at a Safeway in Fort Collins from December to February of this year.
The food Masalta allegedly tampered with was not sealed. Investigators suspect there may be more victims as they continue to review video evidence.
In addition to 14 counts of indecent exposure, Masalta faces charges of attempted unlawful sexual contact, attempted sexual assault on a child, and attempted indecent exposure. As explained by a police spokesperson to the Coloradoan, he is accused of crimes against children due to the belief that minors consumed the tampered food.
Masalta's bond was set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court next week.
