Last week, police in California arrested a pastor and a man he reportedly hired to murder his daughter’s boyfriend last autumn.
Samuel Pasillas, the 47-year-old pastor of a Spanish-language church in Victorville, has been accused of solicitation for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. Riverside police made this announcement.Juan Manuel Cebreros, 55, is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Both men are currently being held on $1 million bonds.
The police revealed that there may be more suspects involved, but no further details were provided.
The incident occurred on October 21, 2023, when a man arrived at a Riverside hospital with gunshot wounds, claiming that he had been shot while driving in the Orangecrest neighborhood around 7 p.m.
The man was wounded multiple times and drove himself to the hospital. Police found evidence of a shooting at the location he mentioned.
Investigators discovered that the shooting was a paid hit, but did not specify the evidence that led them to this conclusion. They stated that Casillas had “met with the men he hired and provided them information about the victim, including his location on the evening of the shooting.” He purportedly paid them nearly $40,000 to carry out the hit, and they had been tracking the victim in the weeks leading up to the shooting.
Authorities did not disclose the reason behind Casillas' desire to have his daughter’s boyfriend killed.
