New Hampshire police are searching for a 26-year-old mother who is wanted for endangering her children after they discovered the family living in extremely poor conditions with garbage, waste, and insects all around the apartment and no electricity.
Manchester Police stated that the situation started in January when they received a report of domestic violence. The woman, Halie Drouin, had already left the home when the officers arrived. WBTS reported. Instead, they spoke with her husband, 31-year-old John Smart, and the two children.
Authorities mentioned that decaying food and litter were scattered across the home, and open alcohol containers were easily accessible to the children. The kids were taken to a hospital for assessment, and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families was notified.
Smart was taken into custody for endangering the welfare of the children, although the police did not specify the date of the arrest. A warrant was issued for Drouin's arrest on the same charges, but law enforcement stated that she was actively avoiding apprehension.
Drouin is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall with blue eyes and black hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Manchester Police Dispatch at (603)668-8711 or report a tip to the Manchester Crimeline at 603-624-4040.
