Two kids are said to have stabbed a 59-year-old woman in Houston on Saturday, causing her to be in critical condition after surgery.
A 12-year-old boy is facing a charge of aggravated assault, KTRK stated, but the 7-year-old boy cannot be charged under Texas law due to his age.
The victim, who has mental health problems, was discovered in her garage by her brother, who regularly checks on her.
Footage from a neighbor’s security camera shows the two boys, along with their bikes, apparently having an argument with the woman shortly after 2 p.m., as per KHOU. Another neighbor instructs the boys to leave, and they do, but they come back 10 minutes later, now wearing gloves. The older boy takes something out of his pants and moves toward the victim in her garage, then flees with the 7-year-old boy.
A neighbor, who preferred not to be identified, said, “None of us ever imagined that the ones who attacked her would be kids from the area. If they have the ability to do that to an older woman who clearly has mental issues after our other neighbor tells them, ‘Hey, leave her alone,’ it’s a worry.”
The victim was airlifted to the hospital and underwent surgery. Her nephew informed KTRK that she was still alive Sunday morning, and her family was keeping an eye on her condition.
Update to yesterday’s stabbing scene on April Valley Ct: the victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
An Aggravated Assault charge was filed on the 12-yr-old, he’s in the custody of Harris County Juvenile.
7-yr-old is not culpable by law.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the older boy has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. In accordance with state law, a child must be 10 years old to be accountable for a serious crime, so the younger boy will not face charges. Child Protective Services has been notified, as per the sheriff’s office.
