Officials in North Carolina are looking into an incident where a man, pretending to be a law enforcement officer, visited a woman at her house and told her that her husband had been involved in a shooting at the 'Madison Walmart'.
The woman made a call to Rockingham County deputies after the fake cop incident on Thursday around 11:30 a.m. She reported that the imposter, who referred to her husband by name, drove a silver Dodge Charger resembling a highway patrol vehicle. The impersonator quickly left the woman's house after she informed a friend about the situation, and then she verified with her husband that he was safe and unharmed.
She described the fake cop as being in his late 30s or early 40s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a medium build and light-colored hair. He was also wearing what looked like a law enforcement uniform.
Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at 336-349-9683.
