A former elite swim coach has been found guilty of molesting girls on his Colorado swim team between 1997 and 2002.
Jon Beber was convicted of sexually assaulting three swimmers on the Boulder Swimming team during that time, before he resigned from the team and departed Colorado, the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office stated.
After that, Beber coached swim teams in Albany, New York, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia, where he was arrested in 2022 after the three victims reported the abuse in Colorado, as CrimeOnline detailed.
“This defendant sexually abused swimmers whom he coached,” District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. “Despite the passage of time, and because of the courage and strength of the victims, the defendant is being held accountable for the abuse and trauma he caused them. Our office was honored to fight for justice for these victims.”
Beber was out on bond pending his trial, and the bond was immediately revoked. Sentencing is scheduled for July 19.
