Prosecutors presented evidence that indicated Montgomery assaulted Harmony for soiling herself in the car they lived in, took opioids, and then ordered food at Burger King while she succumbed to her injuries in the back seat of the car.
Montgomery confessed at trial that he ultimately disposed of her body in an undisclosed location, according to prosecutors.
In a 94-page sentencing memorandum, Montgomery's extensive criminal history and the details presented at trial regarding the little girl’s death were outlined, including the numerous occasions he insisted she was alive and well when he knew she was deceased.
One of the victim impact statements to be read on Thursday is from the adoptive fathers of Harmony’s brother Jameson, now seven. They informed WMUR that Jameson has asked questions about his sister’s glasses and why someone would harm her. Although Jameson’s statement will be read by the fathers, officials anticipate that a statement from the fathers will likely only be included in the written record and not read aloud.
“One day, Jameson will read these gruesome details,” said Johnathon Bobbitt-Miller, one of the boy’s fathers. “He will know exactly the horrible things that happened to his sister, but what I want him to know is his pain is validated, we are there for him, and when he didn’t have a voice, we were his voice.”
