Two individuals were discovered dead from gunshot wounds in their home in Low County, South Carolina, on Friday. The authorities are treating the case as a double murder.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported that relatives requested the authorities to visit a family member at their residence on Saint Helena Island. A 38-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, who had not been in contact for several days, were living at the residence. Family members found this to be unusual.

Officers found the couple deceased from gunshot injuries inside the residence.

“The circumstances surrounding the deaths are currently under investigation and there is early information pointing to both being victims of murder,” stated the sheriff’s office.

WTOC identified the victims as David Gardner and Christiana Alkire and mentioned that they had very recently relocated to the residence.
