The spouse of a Texas judge supposedly shot their nephew to death at their residence outside Houston.

Mei Huang Wolfe, 48, is accused of murdering James Edward Wolfe II on April 4. Mei Wolfe is married to Harris County Justice of the Peace Judge Bob Wolfe.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Bob Wolfe called 911 around 10 p.m. after his wife shot their nephew at their home in the 24000 block of Tesino River Circle. Paramedics pronounced James Wolfe dead at the scene. Mei Wolfe was arguing with her nephew when she supposedly left the room and returned with a firearm. She then proceeded to shoot him in the upper body, deputies said.

“Her husband had tried to stop her and take the gun from her but was not successful,” deputies mentioned.

James Wolfe, who was in his early 20s, had apparently been residing with his aunt and uncle.

“It might have been a situation where the female homeowner felt that he wasn’t welcome anymore and a commotion erupted over that,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters at the location.

Local ABC affiliate filmed crime scene investigators taking photos of Mei Wolfe's hands and other parts of her body. Deputies also questioned her and then took her to jail on a $100,000 bond, which she has since paid.

According to his campaign website, voters elected Bob Wolfe, a Republican, to the bench in 2022 after he worked as a lawyer in the Houston area for about 40 years. He married Mei after the death of his first wife, the website said.

Mei Wolfe stated in her financial affidavit that she works part time as an interpreter. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 8.
