A man from Louisiana was given a 50-year prison sentence and physical castration after he confessed on Wednesday to impregnating and repeatedly raping a 14-year-old girl.
The victim reported the incidents to the authorities in 2022, stating Glenn Sullivan Sr., 54, had sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was 14 and caused her to become pregnant. DNA testing confirmed that Sullivan was the father of the girl’s child — which also supported the rape, as per WBRZ.
Investigators said that Sullivan threatened to harm the victim and her family if she exposed the sexual assaults.
In some cases, convicted rapists in Louisiana can receive sentences of chemical castration or physical castration — the latter involves the surgical removal of the testicles. Sullivan chose physical castration, but WBRZ reported that the procedure would not take place until just before his release from prison.
Brad Cascio, the prosecuting Assistant District Attorney, stated, “Crimes of a sexual nature against minors are the most heinous offenses we prosecute. I plan to utilize all legal measures available, including physical castration, in pursuit of justice for the children in our community.”
