Two New Mexico women have died and a 10-month-old infant is missing following a shooting at a park in Clovis on Friday.
Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for Eleia Maria Torres, stating they thought she was in “imminent peril.”
Another young girl was discovered near the area with a head injury, and she and the baby have been identified as the daughters of one of the slain women, according to Clovis Police.
They were identified as Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen, both 23. Cisneros was the mother of both the injured girl and the baby — identified as Eleia Maria Torres.
Police did not describe the injured girls wounds but said she was taken first to Plains Regional Medical Center and later to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Officers who arrived on the scene found an infant car seat, an infant stroller, and a small bottle near a silver minivan and immediately began a search for a baby.
Family members later told investigators that the injured girl and the missing baby belonged to Cisneros. Those investigators believe that whoever killed the two women and hurt the child kidnapped the infant.
Both women were from Texico, a town about 9 miles east of Clovis.
The baby is described as 28 inches tall and about 23 pounds with brown eyes and hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clovis Police Department at (575) 769-1921 or call 911.
