A Florida mom got arrested last week for allowing her 2-year-old son to bring her Glock 43 to day care in his lunchbox.
Shanae Davis, 39, told the police that she placed the gun in her son’s lunchbox because she didn’t have a purse and didn’t want it visible. WPTV shared the report.Later, she forgot about it and left the boy at Jackson’s Daycare Center in West Palm Beach.
A teacher discovered the firearm, called the police, and the daycare contacted Davis, who was arrested upon arrival and charged with allowing a minor to access a firearm and child neglect.
Davis explained to the police that she usually keeps the gun in her glovebox but had brought it inside due to recent break-ins. On that morning, she put the weapon in the lunchbox to take it back to the car and subsequently forgot about it.
Davis was released from jail on Friday on her own recognizance.
