A previous Washington law enforcement agent suspected of murdering his minor girlfriend and former spouse and taking a 1-year-old child shot himself in the head on Tuesday afternoon after Oregon State troopers saw him on Interstate 5 close to Eugene and pursued him.

The officers safely located the child, Roman Santos, but the condition of Elias Huizar is currently unknown. The West Richland Police reported this..

An official press conference is arranged for Wednesday morning in the Pacific time zone.

After Huizar's girlfriend was found dead in his residence, the Washington State Patrol released an Amber Alert on Monday night, as documented by CrimeOnline. as CrimeOnline reportedThis occurred after they were summoned to William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland, where he allegedly killed his former spouse.

Law enforcement identified the former spouse as Amber Rodriguez and confirmed that she worked as a teacher at the school. While family members recognized the girlfriend as Angelica Santos, law enforcement have not validated this information.

Huizar was also supposedly being investigated for sexually assaulting a friend of Santos’s.

Oregon authorities also released an Amber Alert because they believed Huizar might be en route to Mexico.

Huizar served as a police officer in Yakima from 2014 to 2022. The reason for his departure from the department is unknown.
