A party in Tennessee ended sadly on Saturday evening when gunshots started, resulting in two deaths and six injuries, WMC reports.
The police came around 7 p.m. to Orange Mound Park in Memphis, where they found two men dead from gunshot wounds.
The other victims – at least five of whom were shot – were taken to the hospital. The Memphis Fire Department sent many ambulances, but some of the injured were also driven in private cars, as per Fox News.
Some of the injured victims were initially in critical condition, but now all of them are stable or have been released from the hospital, according to WMC.
About 200 to 300 people were at the party, which was happening without a permit, said Interim Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis, according to WREG-TV.
“Tonight, we are working very hard to identify the people involved in this shooting,” said Davis on Saturday, according to CNN.
Investigators think at least two people fired guns during the event. As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made by the authorities.
Initially, the police said that up to 14 people had been taken to the hospital, but the number of injuries was later changed to six.
CNN reports that there have been over 115 mass shootings in the United States since the beginning of the year.
If anyone has details about the incident or video of the shooting, they should contact the Memphis Police Department at 901-545-2677 (COPS). Information can also be given to CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
