Seven young people were injured in a shooting outside a downtown Indianapolis shopping center on Saturday night.
Police officers in downtown Indianapolis heard gunshots near the Circle Centre Mall just after 11 p.m. and found six minors with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was in critical condition but later became stable, as were the other five. A seventh minor victim was later taken to the hospital and was also reported to be in stable condition.
IMPD Deputy Chief Tanya Terry reported that the victims were between 12 and 17 years old. according to WTHR.
Authorities suspect that there was more than one shooter, but they have no suspects.
The mall closed at around 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
Indianapolis has experienced multiple mass shootings in recent weeks. Last weekend, a gunfight between two off-duty officers working security at a bar and a suspect resulted in the death of the suspect and injuries to one of the officers and four other individuals. In February, a woman was killed and four others were injured when a dispute at a Waffle House turned into gunfire.
The city has also seen numerous shootings involving only one or two victims in the past few weeks.
